Senior Healthcare Communications Specialist
(Official Title: Health Engagement Specialist Senior)
Location: Austin, TX
Schedule: Full-Time | Onsite
Compensation: $35.48 - $39.02/hour
Our client, a large healthcare benefits organization serving public-sector employees, is seeking an experienced communications professional to support healthcare engagement, communications strategy, stakeholder outreach, content development, vendor collaboration, and communications analytics.
This role is ideal for someone with a communications, marketing, public relations, engagement, or outreach background who has experience working within healthcare, healthcare-adjacent, insurance, pharmacy, employee benefits, public health, healthcare providers, healthcare systems, or related industries.
The successful candidate will be able to quickly understand healthcare and benefits-related concepts, translate complex information into clear communications, manage multiple projects, and collaborate effectively with vendors and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and execute communications and engagement strategies supporting healthcare programs and organizational goals.
• Create, edit, and manage presentations, communications materials, newsletters, reports, website content, emails, and stakeholder-facing communications.
• Translate complex healthcare, insurance, pharmacy, and benefits-related information into clear, actionable messaging for diverse audiences.
• Manage communications projects from concept through execution, coordinating timelines, stakeholders, approvals, and deliverables.
• Work closely with vendors, including healthcare, insurance, pharmacy, and related service providers, to review communications, coordinate deliverables, and ensure alignment with organizational objectives.
• Analyze engagement metrics, survey feedback, communications performance, and stakeholder data to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Create reports, dashboards, and presentations that communicate program effectiveness and audience engagement.
• Support communications governance, process improvements, and workflow management initiatives.
• Assist with webinars, training sessions, meetings, conferences, presentations, and stakeholder outreach efforts.
• Serve as a trusted communications partner to internal teams, stakeholders, vendors, and leadership.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Business, Journalism, Public Administration, or a related field preferred.
• Five (5)+ years of professional experience in communications, marketing, public relations, stakeholder engagement, outreach, content development, project coordination, or related fields.
• Experience working within healthcare, healthcare-adjacent industries, insurance, pharmacy, employee benefits, healthcare systems, public health organizations, healthcare providers, nonprofits, government agencies, or other regulated environments strongly preferred.
Required Skills
• Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
• Strong content development, editing, and storytelling skills.
• Experience creating PowerPoint presentations and stakeholder-facing materials.
• Experience working with multiple stakeholders and external vendors.
• Ability to translate complex technical, healthcare, insurance, or business information into clear communications.
• Experience analyzing engagement metrics and measuring communication effectiveness.
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
