Job Description

The Parent Aide provides in-home supportive services to families referred by the Lancaster County Children and Youth Agency. This role focuses on strengthening parenting abilities, life skills, and the capacity to maintain a safe, stable, and nurturing home environment. Services are delivered using a trauma-informed, strengths-based approach that promotes long-term family well-being.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct program intake, initial home visits, and family assessments
  • Provide education and coaching in parenting skills, daily living skills, and home safety
  • Develop and implement goal-oriented service plans in collaboration with each family
  • Meet with families in their homes and in community settings as required
  • Maintain regular communication with the referring agency and other service providers
  • Prepare timely monthly reports and document all case activity in accordance with program standards
  • Build positive, professional working relationships with families, county agencies, and community partners
  • Utilize trauma-informed practices to support healthy development and family stability
  • Perform additional duties as required; some evening hours are necessary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or a related field OR
  • High school diploma with experience in parenting education or work with children ages 10 or younger in a daycare, camp, or school setting
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and ability to transport clients as needed
  • Strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and maintain professional boundaries
  • Some evening hours required
