Director of Human Resources

Growing company with approximately 70 employees is seeking a hands-on Director of Human Resources to oversee all HR functions for the organization. This individual will serve as the company’s primary HR resource and support both corporate and operations/union employees.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all day-to-day Human Resources functions
• Manage employee relations, disciplinary matters, performance issues, FMLA, harassment matters and other employee concerns
• Manage HR matters involving Teamsters/union employees
• Administer employee benefits, including medical, dental and other benefit programs
• Manage workers’ compensation and workplace HR/safety compliance
• Ensure compliance with federal, state and local employment laws
• Maintain and update the employee handbook, policies and required employee training
• Manage onboarding and offboarding
• Oversee recruiting and hiring, including working with outside recruiting partners as needed
• Manage HR systems and implement new HR technology and tools where appropriate
• Develop salary ranges, compensation structures and related HR programs
• Assist management with organizational structure, employee development and succession/placement decisions
• Manage employee engagement and company-wide HR initiatives
• Oversee office time and attendance and provide backup support for union timekeeping and payroll
• Coordinate with payroll and benefits providers, including Paychex
• Maintain required OSHA, safety and employee training documentation
• Lead HR and organizational improvement initiatives across departments

Qualifications

• 7+ years of progressive Human Resources experience
• Experience independently managing a broad HR function
• Experience supporting employees in manufacturing, distribution, warehouse, construction or another operations-focused environment strongly preferred
• Union/Teamsters experience preferred
• Strong employee relations, benefits and employment compliance experience
• Experience implementing HR systems and processes
• Experience with compensation planning and organizational development preferred
• Payroll experience a plus
• Paychex experience preferred
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with both management and employees

Salary: $100,000 to $140,000
