Job Description
Report directly to the Engineering Production Manager
Set-up documentation and set-up time reduction efforts.
Cutting tools – update and keep drawings current.
Evaluate new cutting tools and tool holders.
Implement manufacturing engineering tools and processes.
Project management from inception to completion, including design, procurement of parts, construction, programming and start up.
Trouble shooting for production when requested for hydraulics, electrics, and PLC logic.
Learn and stay current with machine operation and set-up procedures.
Design, build, procure, and place into service various mechanical components and systems that repair, update, or enhance the performance, reliability, and safety of the IHI manufacturing machinery.
Assist in the building of these machines and systems, at times being the only one available to provide the manual labor.
Participate in the selection, procurement, installation of equipment purchased.
Learn to operate existing machines in order to become familiar with their operation.
Become familiar with the products manufactured by the production machinery, their application, specifications, and design criteria.
The Engineer will be responsible for carrying out projects and duties commensurate with his skill. Engineer must also uphold high standards of safe practices. If the Engineer is uncertain how to do something safely, he is expected to inform his supervisor or another manager for assistance.
May be given other work not listed above either to support production and engineering.
Year 1: Would be spent in the shop learning and optimizing machine set-ups. Potentially longer if necessary.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
When heavier or otherwise difficult objects are being moved, the assistance of lifting device(s) (such as a hoist) and/or another person is required.
This position will require sitting at a desk for long periods of times as well as working on machines. Machine work may require working in a variety of positions.
45 Hours per week minimum
Lift 35# - semi-regular basis 50# - Occasionally 75# rarely or with assistance
TRAINING AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
-Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
-Must have experience with solid modeling & drafting. Experience with Autodesk Inventor is strongly preferred.
-Must have at least 3-5 years engineering work experience.
