Pay Rate: $20/hr - $26/hr (Non-CWI, depending on experience), $28/hr - $40/hr (CWI, depending on experience)

Experience: 3+ Years of welding experience, preferred CWI, and strong TIG experience

PrideStaff, a national workforce solutions firm, is honored to partner with a fast-growing company in Dayton, Ohio.   Our client is seeking a motivated professional to join their team in a dynamic cell environment.  Our client is a premier machine shop for custom aerospace solutions, and they are seeking a highly skilled Aerospace Welder/Fabricator with a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) credential.

Role Overview
This role is critical to the flight-hardware production line, requiring expert-level proficiency in manual TIG welding on exotic alloys and a rigorous commitment to AS9100 quality standards. You won't just be joining metal; you’ll be ensuring the structural integrity of components where there is zero margin for error.Key Responsibilities
Your primary focus will be the precision joining of thin-gauge aerospace materials and the internal oversight of weld quality.
  • Precision Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) Welding: Perform manual GTAW (Gas Tungsten Arc Welding) on complex assemblies using a variety of tungsten electrodes (thoriated, lanthanated, etc.) tailored to specific base metals.
  • Exotic Material Handling: Weld high-temperature alloys including Inconel, Titanium, Stainless Steel, and Aluminum, maintaining strict heat-input control to prevent distortion or metallurgical failure.
  • Certified Inspection: Act as the internal CWI to perform visual inspections of welds, ensuring compliance with AWS D17.1 (Specification for Fusion Welding for Aerospace Applications).
  • Blueprint & Schematic Mastery: Interpret complex aerospace engineering drawings, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) symbols, and weld procedures (WPS).
  • Advanced Fabrication: Execute full-cycle fabrication, including cutting, fitting, jigging, and tacking components to within exacting tolerances.
  • Purge & Chamber Welding: Utilize vacuum chambers or localized inert gas purging techniques to ensure oxygen-free environments for reactive metals like Titanium.
Qualifications & Technical Skills
We are looking for a "welder’s welder"—someone who combines manual dexterity with deep theoretical knowledge.
  • Certification: Current AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) status is strongly preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years in an aerospace or high-precision defense manufacturing environment.
  • Tungsten Expertise: Mastery of electrode preparation (grinding angles, finishes) and selection based on current type (AC/DC) and material thickness.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Deep familiarity with NADCAP audit requirements and AS9100 quality management systems.
  • Testing Proficiency: Experience with Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) coordination, specifically Dye Penetrant (PT) and Magnetic Particle (MT) testing.
  • Tooling: Ability to design and build custom weld fixtures to minimize part movement and heat soak.
Physical Requirements & Environment
  • Ability to maintain a steady hand for extended periods under high-magnification or through welding hoods.
  • Willingness to work with hazardous materials and high-heat processes while adhering to strict PPE protocols.
  • Fine motor skills are necessary for working with wire diameters at small spec requirements
We value the "art" of the weld as much as the science. If you take pride in a perfect "stack of dimes" on a Titanium manifold, we want to see your portfolio.
