Sr. Accountant/Assistant Controller

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Accountant / Assistant Controller to join our client's dynamic team. Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, conducting variance analysis, and recommending corrective actions.
• Manage general ledger activities, including reconciling balance sheet accounts and ensuring accuracy in accordance with GAAP.
• Support month-end and year-end closing processes and manage fixed asset schedules and reports.
• Collaborate on annual budgets and quarterly forecasts, monitoring performance against targets.
• Oversee accounts payable and receivable, maintaining cash flow reports and implementing effective collection and payment strategies.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and assist with audits by providing necessary documentation.
• Mentor junior accounting staff and work across departments to align financial goals.
• Monitor and report on construction assets, including proper cost allocations and depreciation.

Required Skills:

• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
• Excellent organizational, time management, and prioritization skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage sensitive data with professionalism, and communicate effectively both in writing and verbally.

Nice to Have Skills:

• Experience using Sage 
• Prior experience with union payroll management.
• Knowledge of construction assets and project accounting.

Preferred Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a similar industry or environment.
