Position Title: Clinical Research Nurse / Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC/CRN)
Location: Norfolk, VA
Role Summary
Seeking a dedicated Clinical Research RN or Coordinator to manage and execute clinical trial operations for oncology and cellular therapy studies. This role involves direct interaction with study participants, close collaboration with principal investigators, and comprehensive protocol compliance management. Approximately 80% of the daily responsibilities are computer- and data-based, with direct patient care remaining limited in non-RN coordinator capacities.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Screening & Enrollment: Present study concepts, objectives, and treatment details to potential clinical trial participants; perform detailed screening and eligibility assessments. Participate in the informed consent process and formally enroll eligible patients on protocol.
Protocol & Care Coordination: Coordinate patient care plans to adhere strictly to study protocol requirements. Oversee physician order preparation to ensure full protocol compliance.
Physician & Investigator Collaboration: Partner with physicians to evaluate patient changes in condition, record concomitant medications, manage dose modifications, track responses to study treatments, and report adverse events.
Regulatory Compliance & Monitoring: Collect and maintain essential regulatory documentation in compliance with standard operating procedures and applicable federal regulations. Schedule, host, and interact with monitors and auditors during site visits.
Sponsor & Partner Communication: Maintain direct communication and workflow alignment with research sponsors, study bases, and external research partners.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education: Graduate from an accredited nursing education program (BSN preferred).
Licensure & Certifications: Current RN licensure in Virginia preferred. Active BCLS or ACLS certification required. OCN, SoCRA, or ACRP certifications preferred.
Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of nursing experience, preferably within oncology. Prior experience in clinical research operations, investigational drug studies, or cellular therapy trials preferred.
Technical Skills: Strong experience with electronic data capture (EDC) systems, computer data entry, and research database management.
Core Competencies: Ability to analyze and interpret technical procedures, protocols, and regulatory documents; excellent written and oral communication skills.
