The facility is seeking a Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C) to join its surgical team serving patients throughout Bergen County, New Jersey.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Surgical PA who wants meaningful operating room experience, direct involvement in patient care, and a strong work-life balance outside of scheduled call weeks.

The ideal candidate will have approximately 1-2 years of surgical experience and be comfortable working closely with the physician across the operating room, hospital, and outpatient settings. Candidates with prior surgical experience are preferred; this position is not intended for a brand-new graduate.

There are no residents competing for cases, allowing the PA to play an important role in the surgical team and gain valuable hands-on experience.

• Serve as a First Assist during major and minor general and acute care surgical procedures

• Provide pre-operative and post-operative patient care in the hospital

• See patients for post-operative visits and follow-ups in the office

• Assist with patient evaluation, treatment planning, and ongoing care

• Work closely with the physician and surgical team

• Provide coverage across multiple office and hospital locations based on the daily schedule

• Participate in the practice's rotating call schedule

• Maintain a high standard of patient care and professionalism

For 4 weeks out of every 5, the expected schedule is:

• Monday-Friday

• Approximately 9:00 AM-5:00 PM

• Evenings generally free

• Weekends generally free

The typical weekly schedule is:

• Monday-Wednesday: Primarily office-based patient care

• Thursday-Friday: Typically operative days

The PA will participate in one full week of call every 5 weeks:

• One consecutive 7-day call week every 5 weeks

• Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week during the assigned call week

• Must remain within approximately 30 minutes of the hospitals while on call

• The call week is the only regular weekend requirement

• Additional bonus pay is available for covering backup call outside of the scheduled call week

Because the practice operates across multiple locations, the PA should be comfortable traveling between offices and hospitals depending on the daily surgical and patient-care needs.

This is a multi-location position, not a single-site role. The PA will rotate between hospitals and offices throughout Bergen County and nearby communities.

The practice's offices and hospitals are located within a relatively compact geographic area, generally within an approximately 30-minute driving radius.

• Active Physician Assistant license

• Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C)

• Approximately 1-2 years of surgical experience preferred

• Prior experience in general surgery, acute care surgery, or surgical first assisting preferred

• Candidates with prior surgical experience preferred; new graduates are not the target profile for this position

• Comfortable working in the operating room

• Able to provide pre-operative and post-operative patient care

• Strong clinical, communication, and interpersonal skills

• Comfortable working across multiple offices and hospitals

• Reliable transportation and ability to commute between locations

• Able to remain within approximately 30 minutes of the hospitals during call weeks

• Comfortable with the demands of a rotating 24/7 call schedule

$130,000 - $150,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
