Facilities Maintenance Technician - Aliso Viejo, CA
Position Overview The Facilities Maintenance Technician plays a vital role in maintaining daily building operations, supporting office logistics, and ensuring the smooth functionality of a high-tech facility. Working alongside seasoned industry professionals, this role offers hands-on exposure to advanced facility equipment, active laboratory environments, and major infrastructure systems. The ideal candidate possesses a strong work ethic, practical experience with tools and trades, and an absolute commitment to safety and continuous learning.
Responsibilities
Ticket Resolution & Customer Service: Respond to, track, and update Facilities Help Desk tickets, ensuring all service requests are thoroughly completed in a timely manner.
Space Setup & Office Logistics: Assist with the installation, configuration, and layout of office moves, conference rooms, breakrooms, restrooms, and common areas. Set up furniture, wall panels, work surfaces, storage units, lighting, electrical setups, and appliances according to end-user specifications.
Building & Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine troubleshooting and repairs to address minor and major maintenance issues involving electrical, plumbing, structural, and facility equipment systems.
Project Support & Vendor Coordination: Support tenant improvement and facility upgrade projects. Assist with RFPs, budget tracking, vendor relations, and progress reporting, ensuring all work complies with local building codes, safety requirements, and operational workflows.
Financial & Administrative Oversight: Review and log facilities purchase orders, invoices, and service contracts to confirm accuracy, contract compliance, and completed work prior to forwarding to Accounts Payable.
Preventative Maintenance Management: Coordinate preventative maintenance contracts for critical infrastructure-including generators, UPS units, HVAC systems, and specialized refrigeration/freezer equipment. Schedule vendor visits, maintain PM logs, and ensure all scheduled maintenance meets service contract standards.
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent.
2+ years of facilities or trades maintenance experience (e.g., HVAC filter changes, plumbing, general handyman, home remodeling, or auto mechanics).
Demonstrated proficiency and comfort working with basic hand and power tools.
Experienced technical capabilities, especially concerning electrical safety and voltmeter usage.
Comfortable working in and around an active biological laboratory environment, including familiarity with biohazard containers and bloodborne pathogen awareness.
Physical stamina to walk multiple flights of stairs and perform regular manual labor throughout the shift.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience working in or around laboratory facilities or specialized lab equipment.
Schedule
Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM (8 hours/day).
Requires flexibility for occasional early arrivals, late stays, or rare weekend support (2-3 Saturdays or Sundays per year).
Compensation
$30.00+ / hour
