We are looking for a skilled Sr. Buyer to join our team in Maryland in a contract capacity with the potential for a permanent role. This position is ideal for a procurement specialist who can balance cost, quality, and delivery objectives while operating with a high level of independence.
Responsibilities:
• Drive purchasing activities for raw materials, parts, equipment, and outside services needed to support production and business commitments.
• Create and oversee purchase orders, confirming that order details, pricing, and supplier delivery dates align with operational needs and company guidelines.
• Lead supplier discussions to secure competitive costs, reliable delivery schedules, and favorable commercial terms.
• Track vendor performance and address issues involving shortages, delays, quality concerns, or invoice discrepancies before they impact operations.
• Partner with teams across engineering, operations, quality, and program management to align procurement plans with manufacturing schedules and project milestones.
• Maintain organized and accurate purchasing records, supplier information, and supporting documentation within company systems.
• Review demand trends, stock levels, and lead times to help maintain material availability without creating unnecessary inventory exposure.
• Assist with supplier selection, qualification, and onboarding efforts while contributing to continuous improvement and cost-saving initiatives.
• Provide support for quotation requests, audit readiness, reporting needs, and broader supply chain improvement efforts as required.• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or a related discipline.
• Experience in buying, procurement, or purchasing within a manufacturing or production-focused environment.
• Demonstrated ability to negotiate with suppliers on price, lead time, and standard business terms.
• Working knowledge of procurement processes, purchase order management, and supplier performance follow-up.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate demand, inventory, and sourcing options to support business objectives.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and external vendors.
• Experience maintaining accurate procurement records and supporting compliance with internal policies and applicable regulations.
