ACME Operator

The ACME Operator is responsible for the operation and monitoring of a minimum of two multiple-spindle screw machines. The operator ensures production requirements and close dimensional tolerances are maintained while working from engineering blueprints and setup sheets.

The role is responsible for performing in-process inspections, identifying nonconforming parts, making appropriate machine adjustments, maintaining equipment throughout the shift, and documenting inspection results. The operator is expected to work independently while communicating with supervisors and shift leadership as needed.

• Operate a minimum of two multiple-spindle screw machines.

• Monitor machine performance and production throughout the shift.

• Maintain required production rates and dimensional tolerances.

• Stop machines when nonconforming conditions are identified.

• Make appropriate machine adjustments to maintain production and quality.

• Monitor tooling, machine conditions, oil levels, and chip accumulation.

• Perform routine machine housekeeping and basic operator-level maintenance.

• Perform in-process inspection using:

  • Calipers

  • Micrometers

  • Gage pins

  • Optical comparators

• Verify parts against engineering drawings, specifications, and setup requirements.

• Identify dimensional or process nonconformities.

• Stop production when quality issues are identified.

• Make adjustments as necessary to bring the process back within specification.

• Maintain accurate inspection records.

• Enter inspection results into control plans and Excel spreadsheets.

• Follow established quality procedures and work instructions.

• Communicate quality concerns, machine issues, and production problems to the appropriate supervisor or shift lead.

• Maintain accurate production and inspection documentation.

• Maintain machines throughout the shift.

• Keep oil levels at required levels.

• Rake and remove chips and maintain a clean work area.

• Monitor equipment condition and report issues.

• Perform basic operator-level maintenance and adjustments as required.

• Understanding of basic shop mathematics.

• Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints.

• Ability to read and follow machine setup sheets.

• Ability to perform basic dimensional inspection.

• Ability to recognize nonconforming parts.

• Ability to make basic machine/process adjustments.

• Strong attention to detail.

• Ability to work independently.

• Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and team members.

• Previous Acme multiple-spindle screw machine experience.

• At least 1 year of Acme machine operation preferred.

• Experience with multiple-spindle screw machines.

• Experience with close-tolerance machining.

• Experience using calipers, micrometers, gage pins, and optical comparators.

• Manufacturing quality and ISO procedures.

• Microsoft Office/Excel.

• Experience with Syteline or similar manufacturing ERP systems.

• High School Diploma or equivalent.

• Previous manufacturing or machining experience preferred.

• Experience with gaging and blueprint reading preferred.

• Ability to understand shop math.

• Ability to work effectively in a production environment.

• Effective English communication skills; ESL candidates may be considered.

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted.

• Approximately 80% of the workday may be spent standing, walking, lifting, pushing, or pulling.

• Ability to work around operating machinery, cutting fluids, chips, and industrial equipment.

• Adequate close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception.

• Ability to adjust focus as required for inspection and machine operation.

• Must follow required PPE and safety procedures.
