Remote – Easy travel up to 25% to Columbus, OH; Cincinnati, OH; Richmond, VA; or Dallas, TX

Summary:
This role is responsible for establishing and managing an AI Center of Excellence, scaling assistant adoption from pilot to enterprise-wide deployment, and implementing governance frameworks to ensure safe and effective AI operations.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, data science, information systems, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10+ years in technology roles with at least 3 years leading AI, machine learning, or data science teams.
  • Proven track record of deploying AI into production with clear business results and adoption metrics.
  • Hands-on proficiency with modern LLM platforms, prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation, and agent design, including human approval workflows.
  • Familiarity with the Microsoft AI stack (Copilot, Copilot Studio, Azure OpenAI, Fabric) and experience with at least one other frontier model provider.
  • Experience establishing AI governance frameworks including acceptable use policies, model approval processes, and audit trails.

Responsibilities:

  • Launch and oversee the AI Center of Excellence, including operating models, membership, decision rights, and reporting structures.
  • Build and manage the AI intake and evaluation process, prioritizing projects based on value, risk, and data readiness.
  • Establish reusable AI delivery patterns, including architecture standards, evaluation methodologies, and production support protocols.
  • Embed AI champions within business units to generate demand and local ownership of AI projects.
  • Develop and execute the AI roadmap, sequencing initiatives for maximum productivity and impact.
  • Lead the deployment of initial operational AI use cases such as assistant tools for estimating, RFP responses, document parsing, and workflow automation.
  • Drive adoption of enterprise assistants like Microsoft Copilot and Claude Enterprise across roles and functions.
  • Design and implement AI governance, including policies, risk management, model safety, and compliance controls.
  • Build and lead the AI team, including hiring and managing ML engineers, prompt engineers, and governance specialists.
