Full Time Lab Assistant
Night Shift

The Laboratory Assistant supports the daily operation of the clinical laboratory by collecting, receiving, labeling, processing, and preparing patient specimens for testing. The position also performs clerical duties, maintains laboratory supplies, assists qualified testing personnel, performs all waived testing and helps ensure that specimens are processed accurately and promptly. Assist with maintaining laboratory records, logs, worksheets and other required documentation.
The Laboratory Assistant must follow laboratory procedures, infection-control practices, patient confidentiality requirements, and applicable regulatory standards. Perform other laboratory related duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the Laboratory Director, supervisor or other authorized supervisory personnel. Assist with special projects, departmental needs, and operational activities as directed by the supervisor. Perform additional duties consistent with the employee’s training, competency and scope of responsibility.

Requirements: •High school diploma or equivalent required.
•Completion of a recognized laboratory assistant, phlebotomy, medical assistant, or related healthcare training program preferred.
•Previous experience in a hospital, clinical laboratory, physician’s office, or healthcare setting preferred.
•Phlebotomy certification through ASCP, AMT, NHA, NCCT, or another recognized organization preferred when blood collection is included.
•Basic computer and data-entry skills required.
•Basic Life Support certification may be required by the hospital.
