Our client seeks a Backup & Recovery Engineer to validate end-to-end restore to Azure within a network-isolated recovery environment. You will execute full restores, identify and remediate issues, and re-validate to produce evidence of successful recovery. You will also assess the inherited backup implementation for immutability and retention, confirm RPO and RTO per application tier with business owners, author tiered recovery runbooks, and establish a sustainable quarterly test cadence. Two engineers will work as a pair on a single track, peer-reviewing each step.

Responsibilities:- Prove restore to Azure end to end by running the restore into a network-isolated recovery environment, seeding it with replicated workloads, and taking at least one full validation through to running systems.
- Remediate issues exposed by restore, then re-test to prove the fix.
- Validate the inherited backup implementation, including immutable targets on premises and in the cloud, retention windows, and verification procedures. Prove immutability by test.
- Facilitate tiering conversations with business owners and ratify RPO and RTO per application tier.
- Author tiered recovery runbooks and hand them over with a walkthrough.
- Stand up a quarterly test cadence with executive sign-off and complete the first cycle.
- Production experience with Veeam in a VMware on-premises datacenter.
- Hands-on restoration of production workloads into a cloud environment and successful operation post-restore.
- Execution of real end-to-end recovery tests against production-equivalent workloads and remediation of findings.
- Validation of an existing backup implementation and identification of gaps.
- Ability to facilitate RPO and RTO tiering with business owners.
- Ability to write clear runbooks others can follow under pressure.
Skills, experience, and other compensable factors will be considered when determining pay rate.
