Job Description
Responsibilities
· Diagnosing, repairing and testing industrial equipment including power service, motor starters, vfds, high/low voltage electrical systems PLC's controls, HMI's Networks (ethernet I/P) and electrical field devices (photo eyes, proxes, encoders, limit switches etc.)
· Utilize standard electrical test equipment to perform equipment test using established procedures
· Update and clarify test procedures, as needed
· Helps train others to conduct these tests properly
· Performing preventive maintenance and general maintenance as required on both production equipment and facilities equipment
· Completing assigned work orders and documenting all tests
· Troubleshooting and identify root cause as well as recommending improvements on a continuous basis with cross functional teams
· Perform preventive and corrective maintenance tasks/activities on controls and devices. PMs include routine battery replacement, routine backups, etc
· Identify, maintain, and assist with troubleshooting control network components
· Troubleshoot electrical control circuits and control systems up to and including 480V 3-phase, 110 VAC, and 24VDC systems
· Replace components and reconfigure programs or settings as needed to maintain a controlled or validated state
Specific Skills
· Perform routine and non-routine program backup from various platforms
· Apply reasoning, analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot equipment or system issues
· Ability to interpret drawings- mechanical and electrical
Ability to train other technicians on controls systems and applications
· Assist with all levels of electrical, process and controls improvements from basic wiring/component replacement or upgrades to complete system or controls upgrades
· Perform basic project management tasks
· Assist Information Technology with holistic control system infrastructure
Partner with system vendors to design, build, qualify and maintain state of the art systems
· Must have Three to Five years of plant maintenance experience with electrical certifications desired
· Experience working with outside contractors on installations
· Be able to develop control logic including prints and installation of control wiring and troubleshoot PLC
· Proficient in the use of applications of test equipment such as multimeters
· Working knowledge of programmable controllers and AC/DC drives
· Industrial control wiring experience
· Possess the ability to read and interpret instrument drawings and control schematics
· Possess knowledge of NEC requirements
· Must be able to work in cross functional teams
· Automation software experience with products such FactoryTalk® Batch, FactoryTalk® View Site Edition & FactoryTalk® View Machine Edition and Wonderware is preferred
· Experience with other systems, such as iFix, PI-Historian, Wonderware MES, Siemens SEMATIC S7, APOGEE®, and WinCC would be a plus
· Electrical design and layout experience including power distribution, I/O devices, sensors, etc.
· Understanding of domestic and international electrical codes (NEC, NFPA79, IEC60204-1)
Experience with Allen Bradley and Siemens products is preferred
· Demonstrates basic knowledge of P&IDs and instrumentation/control equipment in an industrial environment
· Ability to be flexible with work priorities and work effectively as part of a team and in an individual capacity
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Ability to handle multiple assignments with varying priorities in a manner that meets the company's goals
· An excellent technical (engineering) background, with "hands on" experience
· Self-driven to meet objectives/goals within the organization
