Location: Fort Wayne, Indiana
Engagement: Six-month contract
Shift: Second Shift, 3:00 PM–11:30 PM
Compensation: $26.00–$30.00 per hour (commensurate with proven work history)

A day in the life

At 3:00 PM you step onto the floor ready to diagnose, repair, and optimize production assets. One hour it’s a CNC lathe throwing a fault you’ll trace through a PLC and servo loop; the next it’s a warm forge press needing hydraulic and pneumatic adjustments. You collaborate with engineers and fellow techs, document fixes, and apply preventive maintenance so equipment hits uptime and quality targets.

Core responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical and mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems on manufacturing assets, including CNC lathes and warm forge presses
• Install and service electrical systems and components in accordance with codes and blueprints
• Diagnose malfunctions; repair or replace failed parts; verify reliable equipment operation
• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance to minimize unplanned downtime
• Record maintenance activities, repairs, and part replacements with clear documentation
• Partner with technicians, engineers, and plant personnel to resolve issues and improve processes

What you’ll bring

• Hands-on experience in a production/manufacturing setting; background with CNC machines and mechanical presses strongly preferred
• Working knowledge of AC/DC drives, servo motors, PLCs, pneumatics, hydraulics, and industrial control systems
• Ability to read and interpret hydraulic, mechanical, and pneumatic blueprints
• Proven aptitude for troubleshooting both electrical and mechanical systems
• Clear oral/written communication and basic computer skills
• Flexible with shift needs; open to overtime

Top 3 must‑haves

1. Diagnose electrical issues; repair/replace faulty components; confirm stable operation
2. Experience in a production-oriented environment with emphasis on CNC and mechanical press troubleshooting/repair
3. Exceptional electrical and mechanical analytical problem‑solving ability

Preferences

• Electrical troubleshooting expertise and CNC repair experience are highly valued
• Highly skilled mechanical-only candidates with deep CNC experience may be considered

Note: This role is not focused on facilities maintenance.
