Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Activities Director to join our team at Central Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Syracuse, New York. As a member of our Interdisciplinary Team, the Activities Director will be responsible for providing a comprehensive assessment and care planning of residents' preferences for activities and developing an ongoing program to support their choices.

Responsibilities:

• Manage a small team of activity aides and support them in delivering a variety of activities to promote resident engagement and satisfaction

• Conduct resident assessments, develop care plans, and maintain documentation in resident records

• Develop monthly and ongoing schedules of activities that cater to residents' preferences and needs

• Assist residents in running the Resident Council and exercising their rights, including voting

• Complete training in dementia care and other relevant areas

• Attend resident care conferences and reassess changes in care plans as needed

• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated care and support

Requirements:

• A Qualified Therapeutic Recreational Specialist (QTRS) or an activities professional with:

  • Eligibility for certification as a therapeutic recreational specialist

  • Two years of experience in a social or recreational program within the last 5 years, with one year of full-time experience in an activities program

  • Completion of an approved State training course in activities
