Job Description
At the Lakes Area Food Shelf - our Executive Director reports to the Chairman of the Board and is
responsible for leading the organization, overseeing the operations, finances, and programs of both
the Pequot Lakes and Baxter locations while ensuring alignment with its' mission and strategic
goals.
Key Responsibilities
1. Leadership and Vision: Serve as the public face of the organization, articulating its vision,
mission, and strategic direction. Must inspire and align staff, board members, and volunteers
towards common goals.
2. Operational Management: Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring that programs are effectively
implemented and aligned with the organization's mission. This includes managing staff, volunteers,
and resources efficiently.
3. Financial Oversight: Responsible for the financial health of the organization, including
budgeting, financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
Lead fundraising efforts and develop strategies to secure funding.
4. Board Collaboration: Work closely with the Board of Directors to develop and implement strategic
plans, policies, and governance practices.
5. Community Engagement: Foster relationships with stakeholders, including donors, vendors, food
rescue and community partners, and the public. Act as an advocate for the organization,
representing its interests at various levels.
Required Skills and Qualifications
• Leadership Skills: Strong ability to lead and motivate a diverse team, with a focus on
collaboration and communication.
• Strategic Thinking: Ability to help develop and implement strategic
plans that align with the organization's mission and goals.
Financial Acumen: Experience in financial management, budgeting, and
fundraising.
• Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and relationship-building skills to engage with
various stakeholders.
• Nonprofit Experience: Familiarity with the nonprofit sector, including governance, compliance,
and program development.
Work Environment
The Executive Director typically works on the floor when the food shelf is open and in and out of
the office with frequent meetings and presentations. Some travel is required for fundraising events
and networking opportunities.
Job/Physical Requirements
Must have reliable transportation and a valid drivers license.
Occasionally load and unload food shipments, must be able to lift 50#.
