1:1 Paraprofessional – Highland Park, NJ

School-Based | 2026–2027 School Year | Part-Time

Horizon Staffing Resources is seeking a compassionate, reliable, and patient 1:1 Paraprofessional to support a high school student in Highland Park, NJ during the 2026–2027 school year. This position is ideal for someone interested in gaining hands-on experience in special education, student support, and school-based services.

Schedule

• Monday–Friday
• 10:00 AM–2:30 PM
• School-based position

Job Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 support to a high school student throughout the school day
• Assist the student with academic activities, classroom participation, transitions, and daily routines
• Support a student who uses a wheelchair and walker, including mobility and safe transitions throughout the school
• Assist with vocational and life-skills activities as directed by the school team
• Help the student navigate the school environment safely and encourage independence
• Monitor student safety, engagement, and overall well-being
• Provide support while maintaining the student's dignity, privacy, and independence
• Collaborate with teachers and school staff to follow individualized student needs and classroom routines
• Encourage positive behavior, communication, participation, and social engagement

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required
• Previous experience working with children, adolescents, or individuals with special needs preferred
• Experience supporting students with mobility needs is a plus
• Compassionate, patient, dependable, and attentive to student needs
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to follow directions and work collaboratively with teachers and school staff
• Must have or be willing to obtain NJ Board of Education fingerprinting
