Job Description
The Town of Wellesley is seeking a part-time (20 hours per week), Deputy Director of Veterans Services to help serve the roughly 2,000 veterans and their family members living in Wellesley, Needham, Wayland, Weston and Westwood. Reporting to the Veterans Services Director, the Deputy Director works with veterans and their dependents to apply for and receive local, state, and federal benefits earned through military service.
Primary duties include meeting with veterans and family members; determining benefit eligibility; and assisting them with applying for benefits.
Candidates must be veterans of the U.S. military in accordance with Massachusetts State law and able to commute to and work in the five towns as needed. A bachelor’s degree is preferred, along with one to three years of experience in constituent-service type roles: veteran services, senior services, human resources, etc. The Executive Office of Veterans Services requires veteran service officers to be certified through training within one year of hiring and every three years after. A valid driver’s license, and a reliable vehicle are required.
Pay range is $42.02 - $49.37 per hour, depending on qualifications, plus a $3,000 transportation stipend.
