  • Shift: Days, 4x10s, M-F, 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM, 40 hours

Job Summary
Serves as a professional caregiver in the Heart & Vascular Institute, caring for patients requiring invasive cardiology or invasive radiology studies. Assists the physician in all procedures and provides valuable support to the patient and care team.

Responsibilities

  • Administers contrast material via existing IV line or by performing venipuncture/IV placement; recognizes and responds to hypersensitivity or allergic reactions
  • Functions under the direct supervision of a physicist or dosimetrist
  • Assists with inventory/supplies
  • Verifies correct patient/chart identification, diagnosis, and treatment position
  • Compiles pertinent clinical information (lab, pathology, etc.)
  • Assists in instructing new staff as needed
  • Documents accurately and completely
  • Explains procedures to patients and provides comfort, support, safety, and confidentiality
  • Accurately relays intra-procedural medication doses, radiation, and sponge/sharp counts to the procedural nurse
  • Performs on-call duties and variable shifts as needed

Department-Specific Duties

  • Contrast administration and allergy assessment
  • Peripheral vascular work, venous central lines, tube changes
  • Embolization work (venous and arterial), venous thrombectomy work
  • Dialysis access work (AV fistulas, tunneled dialysis catheters, peritoneal dialysis catheters)
  • Tube access/changes (G-tube, chole, neph, biliary, abscess, SPC)
  • Interventional neurology and neuro procedures (cerebral arterial/venous, kyphoplasty) preferred/ideal
  • Late shift duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in a related field, or Certificate in Radiologic Technology
  • BLS (AHA)
  • ACLS (AHA)
  • IEMA Radiography License (Illinois)
  • ARRT Radiography (R)
  • Previous procedural-setting radiologic technology experience preferred; interventional neurology experience preferred
