Lead Commercial Electrician – EV Charging Infrastructure

JB Construction is seeking an experienced Lead Commercial Electrician to supervise electrical crews installing large-scale EV charging stations throughout Florida and Georgia.

This is a hands-on leadership position. We need someone who can work independently, read electrical drawings, plan daily work, train crew members, and make sure installations are completed safely, correctly, and efficiently.

Responsibilities include:

• Lead and train a small electrical crew

• Read and understand electrical plans, one-lines, panel schedules, and equipment specifications

• Install and connect 480/277V three-phase electrical systems

• Work with switchgear rated up to 2,000 amps

• Install and terminate transformers, switchboards, distribution panels, EV chargers, disconnects, and emergency-stop circuits

• Pull, phase, label, test, and terminate large conductors

• Perform proper grounding and bonding

• Lay out conduit entries, equipment placement, risers, and underground electrical work

• Coordinate daily work with the project superintendent and general contractor

• Identify material needs before they delay production

• Troubleshoot electrical and charging-equipment problems

• Maintain a safe, clean, and productive jobsite

• Complete assigned work without requiring constant supervision

Required experience:

• Strong commercial or industrial electrical experience

• Proven experience with 480V three-phase systems

• Experience connecting large switchgear, transformers, and distribution panels

• Ability to read electrical blueprints and one-line diagrams

• Knowledge of conductor identification, phasing, torque requirements, grounding, and bonding

• Ability to lead workers with different experience levels and teach them the correct installation methods

• Comfortable working outdoors in Florida and Georgia conditions

• Willing and able to travel between project locations

• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

• Must provide basic hand tools and required PPE

• OSHA 10 certification preferred

Experience with EV charging stations, medium-voltage equipment, large service installations, underground conduit, and equipment commissioning is strongly preferred.

We are looking for a dependable working lead—not someone who only wants to supervise. The right candidate must be productive in the field while directing the crew, checking their work, and keeping the project moving.

Housing is provided for approved out-of-town assignments. Compensation will be based on demonstrated electrical knowledge, leadership ability, productivity, and experience.
