Position Announcement

The Department of Computing at Utah Tech University (UT) in St. George, Utah, invites applicants for a full-time professional-track Instructor of the Practice or Assistant Professor in Cybersecurity, starting July 1, 2027. We are seeking someone that has a strong knowledge of SCADA and ICS security and that can complement our existing expertise. Responsibilities
  • For Instructor of the Practice - teach 30 credits of lecture and laboratory courses in cybersecurity each academic year. For Assistant Professor - teach 24 credits of lecture and laboratory courses in cybersecurity each academic year.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of programs and projects in Cybersecurity and related areas.
  • Perform defined campus-wide duties including holding office hours, attending department, college, and division faculty meetings, and adhering to University policy and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • To be considered for the Instructor of the Practice a Master's degree in Cybersecurity or closely related field by Spring 2027 is required. A terminal degree in Cybersecurity, IT, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field is required to be considered for the Assistant Professor.
  • Industry experience strongly preferred. Interest in Industrial Control Systems security preferred.
  • Prior teaching experience is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to collegiality and teamwork are desired.
  • An interest in active learning, experiential learning, and student engagement is also desirable.
Supplemental Information

POSITION DETAILS, COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:Full-time (9-month) professional-track or tenure-track faculty position. Faculty service with pay and benefits starting July 1, 2027. Annual salary of $73,000 - $77,000 for Instructor of the Practice or $90,000 - $94,000 for Assistant Professor with additional compensation available for optional summer/overload teaching.
