Job Description

The Medical Surgical Telemetry RN specializes in monitoring patients requiring continuous cardiac observation within a medical-surgical setting. Operating with a typical patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:5, this nurse utilizes standard telemetry monitors to track vital signs and respond promptly to changes in patient conditions. The role involves scheduled shifts without on-call demands, emphasizing coordination with healthcare teams to ensure comprehensive patient care and effective discharge planning.


13 Week Contract with the option to extend

Shift: Day 3x12-Hour (07:00 - 19:00)

Yes every other weekend

Float between units: Yes

Special requirements: Neurology RN experience, comfortable with the NIH scale and proficient at caring for the post surgical neurology patient and other varies neurology diagnosis.

 

Responsibilities

  • Monitor patient telemetry and analyze cardiac rhythms using standard telemetry monitors
  • Administer medications and assess vital signs to support patient recovery
  • Educate patients about their conditions and care plans
  • Coordinate care with physicians and multidisciplinary teams
  • Document patient information accurately in electronic medical records
  • Respond to emergencies and implement appropriate interventions
  • Manage telemetry and related equipment to maintain functionality
  • Implement infection control procedures to ensure patient safety
  • Facilitate discharge planning to support smooth transitions from care

 

Qualifications

  • 1+ years experience in medical-surgical nursing
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Proficient in telemetry monitoring and patient assessment
  • Experienced in medication administration and electronic medical records (EMR)
  • Strong critical thinking, communication, teamwork, and time management skills
  • Knowledgeable in infection control procedures
