About the role

Responsible for the build, repair, and development of new and existing dies, tooling, and automation components. Responsibilities include providing support to the production departments by solving and repairing existing tooling and automation on an advanced level. This role also provides support and training to Toolmaker I in a safe manner and within quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Studies blueprints, sketches, models, or specifications to plan sequences of operations for fabricating tools, dies, or assemblies
  • Plans sequence of operations for fabricating components
  • Sets up and operates mills, lathes, grinders, including CNC controlled, and other machining equipment
  • Makes and repairs cutting tools, jigs, fixtures, and gauges
  • Fits, assembles and trouble shoots dies, molds, and assembly equipment
  • Takes direction from Engineering and management
  • Analyzes the assignment and proceeds in a professional, timely manner until the assignment is complete
  • Informs Engineering of project progress and completion
  • Provides training assistance to other toolroom personnel when required
  • Performs assigned Toolmaker III duties in their absence
  • Completes assignments within proper quality specifications
  • Works with Tool Design in tool and fixture developments
  • Visualizes and computes dimensions, sizes, shapes, and tolerances of assemblies; based on specifications
  • Provides input into decisions regarding problem diagnosis and resolution
  • Completes assigned projects with minimal guidance
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings
  • Ability to use precise measuring instruments
  • Ability to communicate clearly
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to apply problem solving skills
  • Ability to utilize Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook at an intermediate level
  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems


Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required, associate degree in technical field preferred
  • Tool and Die Journeyman preferred
  • Minimum of 6 years experience in tooling field

Travel

  • No Travel is Anticipated
