Job Description
We are working with a midsize/large law firm in lower Manhattan that is looking for an attorney with 2+ years of experience to join a defense-side legal practice in New York, New York. This role is well suited for a litigation associate who can manage employment-related matters with sound judgment, strong analysis, and a practical approach to client service. The position offers exposure to a broad mix of disputes, counseling work, and workplace investigations, making it an excellent fit for a lawyer who thrives in a fast-paced legal environment.
Responsibilities:
• Represent employer-side clients in a range of litigation matters, including workplace disputes and other civil cases.
• Handle employment-related claims involving discrimination, retaliation, and similar allegations from initial assessment through resolution.
• Prepare motions, briefs, discovery materials, and other case filings with a high level of accuracy and legal reasoning.
• Advise clients on restrictive covenant issues, including matters involving trade secrets, non-compete provisions, and non-solicitation agreements.
• Conduct internal investigations related to workplace concerns and present findings in a clear, well-supported manner.
• Support traditional labor matters such as union-related disputes and collective bargaining discussions.
• Provide day-to-day legal guidance to clients on employment and labor law issues, balancing legal risk with business objectives.
• Collaborate effectively with colleagues and clients while helping manage case progress, deadlines, and administrative priorities.
• Active admission to the New York Bar is required.• At least 2 years of experience practicing as an attorney, preferably in litigation or labor and employment law.
• Background handling civil litigation matters, including drafting motions, briefs, and discovery documents.
• Familiarity with employer-side employment law, including federal, state, or local workplace regulations.
• Experience or demonstrated exposure to employment disputes, internal investigations, or labor relations matters is preferred.
• Strong analytical thinking and sound judgment in evaluating legal issues and case strategy.
• Effective communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a legal setting.
