Machinist

Adient is seeking a skilled Machinist / Tool Maker to join our Tool Room team in Clanton, Alabama. This role is ideal for an experienced machining professional who enjoys working with precision equipment, reading technical drawings, fabricating custom components, and supporting manufacturing operations.

What You'll Do

• Set up and operate conventional, special-purpose, and CNC machines to manufacture metallic and nonmetallic components
• Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, technical drawings, specifications, and sample parts
• Determine machining sequences, tolerances, dimensions, and setup requirements
• Monitor machine performance, troubleshoot issues, and make necessary adjustments
• Verify finished parts using precision measuring instruments to ensure quality standards are met
• Conduct machine trial runs to validate accuracy and performance
• Install and test replacement parts in equipment and machinery as needed
• Perform basic welding operations for cutting or joining parts when required
• Collaborate with engineers, programmers, production teams, and maintenance personnel to resolve tooling and machining challenges
• Calculate and adjust machining factors, including feed rates, speeds, coolant flow, cutting depths, and angles

What We're Looking For

✅ Experience operating CNC and conventional machining equipment

✅ Strong blueprint reading and interpretation skills

✅ Knowledge of machine shop practices, tooling, materials, and machining techniques

✅ Ability to use precision measuring tools and inspection equipment

✅ Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting abilities

✅ Knowledge of PC-to-equipment interfaces and mechanical systems

✅ Ability to work independently while supporting a team environment

✅ Willingness to work 2nd Shift
