THE POSITION

Join the Department of Environmental Protection, Abandoned Mine Reclamation, as a Clerical Assistant 2 and support important work that protects Pennsylvania land and water. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position provides clerical and administrative support within the Bureau of Abandoned Mine Reclamation to help ensure accurate records, organized workflows, and reliable communication. The work involves timekeeping, document preparation, training coordination, data entry, and assisting staff with a wide range of office needs. As a Clerical Assistant 2, you will perform the following duties:

  • Timekeeping Support: Prepare overtime approvals, enter timesheets, review error screens, assign time codes, and update attendance and schedule information
  • Employee Assistance: Help staff with questions about time recording, travel expenses, payroll topics, and use of required systems
  • Training Coordination: Set up training for employees, work with personnel offices, prepare authorization forms, and maintain training records
  • Document Preparation: Type letters, memos, reports, contracts, and other materials while ensuring correct grammar and formatting
  • Data Management: Enter and update information in required databases and systems to maintain complete and accurate records
  • Office Operations: Create contract folders, organize vehicle records, post schedules, and maintain orderly filing systems

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Ebensburg, PA. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $36,831 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Graduation from high school; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
