About Sterling
Sterling Site Access Solutions is the nation’s leader in sustainable site access, supporting energy infrastructure and large-scale construction projects across the United States. Guided by our vision of Building a Better Tomorrow, we help customers solve complex access challenges, manage risk, control costs, and keep critical projects moving.
Through our mission to move people, projects, and communities forward, Sterling provides innovative materials, engineered solutions, and access services that support safer, more efficient, and more sustainable project execution. As America’s largest manufacturer of TerraLam® cross-laminated timber mats, we pair advanced U.S.-based manufacturing with a broad portfolio of site access products and services.
At Sterling, talented people make a meaningful impact by helping customers deliver the infrastructure and construction projects that keep communities moving. Our culture is grounded in safety, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. If you’re energized by solving problems, building relationships, and growing with a company that’s shaping the future of site access, Sterling is a place where you can do your best work.
Role Description:
The Inside Sales Representative role at Sterling is relationship-driven, goal-oriented, and high-impact. In this role, you’ll manage inbound leads, nurture house accounts, and lead outbound calling campaigns that create pipeline, deliver accurate quotes, and close revenue. This is a great opportunity for someone who brings energy, curiosity, follow-through, and a strong desire to win while building lasting customer relationships.
What You’ll Do
- Learn Sterling’s Sales and Operations Planning process and understand how it supports customer commitments, internal coordination, and successful project execution.
- Make 40–60 outbound calls each day to prospects, house accounts, and leads to generate activity and move opportunities forward.
- Identify, develop, and convert new business opportunities through consistent follow-up, strong discovery, and value-driven conversations.
- Partner with pricing, operations, and logistics teams to prepare timely, accurate, and competitive quotes.
- Respond quickly to inbound inquiries by phone, web, or email, qualify opportunities, and determine the right next step.
- Build trusted relationships with buyers, project managers, and other key contacts by understanding their priorities and helping connect them to the right Sterling solutions.
- Tailor Sterling’s value proposition to each customer, project specification, and competitive situation.
- Keep CRM records current with opportunity data, contact activity, lead conversions, pipeline updates, and deal status.
- Meet or exceed daily, weekly, and monthly performance goals, including call volume, quote volume, pipeline creation, and closed revenue.
- Stay informed on market activity, competitor movement, and industry trends that may influence customer needs or sales strategy.
- Collaborate across teams to support departmental needs, share customer insights, and contribute to broader business goals.
What You’ll Bring
- A strong drive for activity, follow-through, and turning opportunities into results.
- Confidence making phone-based pitches that are clear, concise, and compelling.
- A customer-first mindset, with the curiosity, responsiveness, and accountability needed to build trust.
- The ability to strengthen relationships over time by listening well, following through, and communicating with credibility across customer and internal stakeholders.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage a full pipeline without losing accuracy.
- Comfort working in CRM systems, Microsoft Office products, and quoting workflows.
Qualifications We’d Like to See
- A bachelor’s degree in business management, marketing, or a related field
- At least two years of experience in inside sales, account management, or a similar customer-facing sales role.
- Experience in site access mats, construction, infrastructure, or related industrial sales is strongly preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present ideas, negotiate, analyze information, and influence decisions.
What We Offer
- Comprehensive health coverage, including medical, dental, and vision insurance.
- Health Savings Account and Flexible Spending Account options to support healthcare and dependent care needs.
- Company-paid life insurance benefit of $25,000.
- Optional voluntary benefits, including supplemental life insurance, disability coverage, and pet insurance.
- Generous paid time off, including company holidays, vacation, personal time, and parental leave.
- Safe Harbor 401(k) retirement plan with a 3% employer contribution.
- A supportive culture that values employee well-being, professional growth, collaboration, and work-life balance.
