Job Description
Step into an enriching education environment as a dedicated Special Education Teacher supporting early learners in a dynamic classroom setting. This full-time contract opportunity runs from August 13, 2026, through June 4, 2027, and serves transitional kindergarten, kindergarten, and first grade students in a supportive school community near San Leandro, CA.
As a lead educator for a class of up to 12 students with moderate to severe needs, you’ll collaborate closely with three classroom paraprofessionals, fostering a nurturing and inclusive atmosphere. Your expertise will help guide individualized instruction, promote social-emotional growth, and ensure all students can achieve their fullest potential.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Active California Moderate/Severe Education Specialist credential (required)
- Previous experience teaching students with diverse learning needs, preferably in an early childhood or elementary setting
- Strong classroom management and co-teaching skills
- Commitment to individualized education plans (IEPs) and collaborative teamwork
- Passion for making a meaningful difference in young children’s lives
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement effective, differentiated lesson plans for a small group of TK, kindergarten, and 1st grade students
- Work in tandem with paraprofessionals to deliver instruction and behavior support tailored to individual abilities
- Conduct ongoing assessment of student progress, maintaining regular communication with families and other educational staff
- Adapt strategies and materials to meet each student’s unique needs
- Foster a safe and engaging classroom environment that prioritizes student growth and inclusion
