Job Description
Make an immediate impact supporting high school students in the Berkeley area as a dedicated Special Education Teacher. This contract position, beginning as soon as possible and extending through the end of the school year, offers a rewarding opportunity to help students thrive academically and emotionally. The full-time schedule ranges from 35 to 37.5 hours each week, giving you the consistency to foster meaningful connections and see real growth in your students.
In this role, you’ll work with a manageable high school caseload, utilizing your expertise to deliver instruction in algebra, geometry, and physics. Your knowledge and passion for empowering learners will ensure each student receives the support they need to succeed both inside and outside the classroom.
Desired Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid Special Education Teaching certification
- Experience working with high school-age students
- Proficiency in teaching algebra, geometry, and physics to diverse learners
- Ability to create an inclusive, positive classroom environment
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Capable of adapting instruction and materials to meet individual student needs
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Deliver engaging lessons tailored to various learning styles
- Monitor and track student progress, updating goals as necessary
- Collaborate closely with fellow educators, support staff, and families
- Foster a supportive, nurturing, and structured classroom setting
- Participate in meetings and professional development as required
