Make a lasting impact as a Special Education Teacher supporting high school students with emotional or behavioral challenges for the 2026-2027 school year. Key Qualifications:

  • Current Rhode Island Department of Education Special Education license (Secondary level).
  • Compliance with the Right to Read Act: certification in, or willingness to complete, Rhode Island Structured Literacy proficiency within one year of hire.
  • Experience working with high school students, particularly those with Emotional Behavioral Disorders (EBD) or similar severe behavioral needs.
  • Strong skills in classroom management, individualized instruction, and behavioral intervention.
  • Collaborative mindset, with the ability to coordinate closely with other educators, service providers, and families.
  • Compassion, resilience, and a deep commitment to positive student outcomes.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide direct instruction to high school students in a self-contained or sub-separate environment.
  • Implement individualized education plans (IEPs), tailored curriculum, and behavioral management strategies.
  • Foster a supportive atmosphere that encourages educational and social-emotional progress.
  • Maintain close communication with parents, support staff, and administrators to ensure continuity of care.
  • Track progress, document data, and adjust instruction as needed.
  • Adhere to all state and district requirements for compliance and reporting.
