Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid credentials: VQAS Level 3 or higher, or 3.5 EIPA with completed written section.
- Demonstrated experience working as a sign language interpreter in educational environments.
- Ability to establish rapport quickly with elementary-aged children.
- Strong commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, and collaboration with educational teams.
- Reliable availability for a full-time, on-site schedule.
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide consistent 1:1 sign language interpretation services for a 3rd grade student throughout the school day.
- Accurately interpret classroom instruction, peer interactions, and supplemental school activities.
- Partner with teachers and staff to support the student’s learning objectives and facilitate inclusion.
- Adapt interpreting style to suit the student’s developmental needs and communication preferences.
- Maintain clear and ongoing communication with school professionals regarding the student’s progress and any relevant concerns.
