Summary:
An industry leading freight company is looking to hire an Account Specialist to support our ocean transportation operations. This role will involve managing customer accounts, coordinating shipments, securing bookings, and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction in a fast-paced logistics environment.
Responsibilities
* Respond promptly to customer inquiries and requests, offering effective solutions and alternatives.
* Manage assigned accounts, keeping customers informed of all aspects of their shipments.
* Secure bookings and coordinate with internal teams to ensure successful shipment execution.
* Handle a high volume of incoming calls and provide high-quality service to ensure customer satisfaction.
* Coordinate the most effective transportation mode per customer requirements (ocean, intermodal, or over-the-road).
* Schedule delivery appointments with Inbound and Intermodal departments.
* Track shipments and documentation, running reports to keep customers informed of inventory and minimize demurrage/per diem charges.
* Stay updated on vessel schedules, market changes, and related issues affecting areas of responsibility.
* Quote rates (port-to-port, intermodal, over-the-road, railroad, transshipment) and coordinate with the pricing team.
* Assist with mild contract rate negotiations.
* Issue corrections or invoices to Bills of Lading (BOLs) as needed.
* Review BOL ratings and audit customer accounts to support Credit and Collections.
* Keep management informed of operational issues and trends.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
* 1-2 years of experience in Customer Service, Traffic, or Rates within the logistics industry OR 1-2 years of customer service experience combined with logistics certification/education (attained or in progress).
* Proficient in English and Spanish (business-level reading, writing, and speaking).
* Intermediate skills in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
* Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
* Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving skills.
* Ability to work in a goal-oriented team, multitask, and perform in a fast-paced environment.
* Flexible and adaptable to changing market trends and conditions.
* Ability to work extended hours, holidays, or weekends as needed.
