Job Description
Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting early learners as a Special Education Teacher within a collaborative elementary setting near Oakland, CA. This full-time contract position runs from August 13, 2026, through June 4, 2027, serving a classroom of transitional kindergarten, kindergarten, and first-grade students. With a maximum caseload of 12 students and three classroom paraprofessionals, you’ll be able to focus on delivering individualized support and engaging instruction.
Candidates must possess an active California Moderate/Severe Education Specialist credential. Your expertise will be vital in adapting curricula, implementing IEPs, and fostering a nurturing, inclusive learning environment for students with a range of abilities.
Qualifications:
- Current, valid California Mod/Severe Education Specialist credential (required)
- Experience working with elementary-aged students in special education settings
- Ability to design and implement differentiated instruction and behavioral supports
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with paras, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Familiarity with IEP processes and compliance
Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction to students in TK, K, and 1st grade
- Develop, monitor, and report on IEP goals in collaboration with the team
- Collaborate with three paraprofessionals in classroom routines and instruction
- Adapt lessons to meet diverse learning needs and promote inclusion
- Engage families and support staff in student achievement and growth
