Special Education Teacher - Hayward, California

Step into a rewarding contract opportunity as a Special Education Teacher supporting young learners in a structured classroom setting. Located in vibrant San Leandro, this full-time role runs from August 13, 2026, through June 4, 2027. You will work with a small, supportive caseload of no more than 12 students in TK, Kindergarten, and 1st grade, with the help of three experienced paraeducators.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Active California Moderate/Severe Education Specialist Credential is required
• Experience working with early elementary special education populations appreciated
• Strong classroom management and communication skills
• Collaborative spirit to work seamlessly with paraeducators and other staff
• Genuine dedication to each student’s individual growth and success

Main Responsibilities:

• Develop and adapt curriculum to individual learning plans for students in TK, K, and 1st grade
• Assess students’ needs and progress, documenting outcomes and adjusting instruction accordingly
• Partner with classroom paras to foster a supportive, structured learning environment
• Participate in IEP meetings and maintain ongoing communication with families and staff
• Create positive, inclusive relationships that cultivate confidence and independence for every student
