Job Description
Step into a vital role supporting high school students as a Special Education Teacher in the Berkeley area, serving a local school district under a full-time contract through the end of the school year. This position focuses on working closely with diverse learners, offering a supportive classroom environment tailored to individual education needs. The caseload consists of high school students, and the ability to teach subjects such as algebra, geometry, and physics is a must.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid Special Education teaching credential
- Experience teaching high school students, particularly in algebra, geometry, and physics
- Strong classroom management and interpersonal skills
- Compassionate educator dedicated to fostering inclusive learning environments
- Ability to collaborate with general education teachers, aides, and families
- Flexibility and commitment to adjusting strategies based on student needs
Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction in algebra, geometry, and physics to high schoolers with diverse learning profiles
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Modify curriculum and teaching styles to meet each student’s unique needs
- Work collaboratively with students, families, and staff to ensure student progress
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with all district and legal requirements
- Participate in staff meetings, IEP reviews, and training sessions as needed
