Hours: 8am-5pm, M-F
Pay Rate: $28.00 - $30.00 per hour
1 year contract to start
Summary
The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Administrator provides administrative and program support to the Chaska EHS team. This position coordinates routine inspections and audits, maintains accurate records, supports training, reporting, and environmental compliance tasks, and helps ensure timely follow-up on assigned actions. This role works collaboratively with employees, supervisors, contractors, and support functions to promote an injury free, environmentally compliant, and continuously improving workplace.
Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
- Support administration of site wide EHS programs, procedures, and policies under direction of EHS site leadership.
- Enter and maintain information in EHS systems, including safety observations, near misses, incidents, corrective actions, and inspections. Ensure entries are reviewed for completeness and accuracy.
- Prepare routine EHS metrics, reports, presentations, communications, and meeting materials for site EHS and employee engagement activities.
- Coordinate routine workplace inspections and audits and document findings, assign follow up actions, and track actions to completion.
- Maintain Safety Data Sheets and support the site chemical inventory process including document control and employee access to information.
- Support hazardous waste and universal waste disposal activities including labeling, inspections, manifests, vendor coordination, and document retention.
- Assist in delivering EHS training related to compliance including New Hire Orientation.
- Support contractor and visitor safety administration, including coordination of required documentation, orientations, and site access.
- Coordinate EHS committee and program activities including meetings, agendas, minutes, action items, recognition, and employee communications.
- Support ergonomics by driving tasks to closure, EHS engagement, and wellness initiatives.
- Assist with environmental reporting, permit documentation, and other compliance record as directed by the EHS team.
- Promptly communicate observed hazards, compliance concerns, or incidents to EHS team members.
- Perform other EHS administrative and project support duties as assigned.
- Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant administrative, manufacturing, or EHS experience. Bachelor of Science degree in an EHS-related technical discipline preferred but not required.
- Must be comfortable working a manufacturing environment around chemicals.
- Strong speaking skills.
- Good Excel skills
- One or more years of administrative, manufacturing support, or EHS related experience preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple recurring tasks and deadlines.
- Experience working with OSHA, US EPA and state-level compliance programs and regulations.
- Ability to maintain accurate records, handle confidential information appropriately, and follow established procedures.
- Ability to work with people in a culturally diverse environment.
- Ability to use a computer, email, video conference tools and office software.
- Availability to provide occasional off-shift coverage and support to ensure continuity of operations and EHS program effectiveness.
