Cook/Diet Aide

Casa Serena is a 6-bed subacute congregate living health facility (CLHF) dedicated to providing high-quality, compassionate care to residents with complex medical needs.

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Cook / Diet Aide to support meal service and ensure compliance with therapeutic diets and Title 22 standards.

Schedule

Monday – Friday | Day Shift (aligned with meal service needs)
7:30 am - 2:30 pm

Pay

$19 – $23 per hour (based on experience)

Position Overview

The Cook/Diet Aide is responsible for preparing and serving meals in accordance with physician-ordered/Registered Dietitian-recommended diets, ensuring accuracy, safety, and compliance with all regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

1 Prepare and serve meals according to planned menus and diet orders

2 Follow and correctly implement therapeutic diets (ex: cardiac, diabetic, renal, mechanical soft, puree)

3 Ensure accurate tray setup and portioning per resident needs

4 Maintain proper food handling, sanitation, and infection control practices

5 Monitor and log food temperatures and storage compliance

6 Maintain kitchen cleanliness in accordance with Title 22 regulations

7 Assist with inventory, stocking, and organization of food supplies

8 Work collaboratively with nursing staff to support resident care

9 Assist with light facility support tasks during downtime (non-laundry)

Qualifications

1 Experience in food service, healthcare, or similar setting preferred

2 Familiarity with therapeutic and texture-modified diets strongly preferred

3 Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices

4 Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions

5 Ability to work independently in a small team environment

Physical Requirements

1 Ability to stand for extended periods

2 Ability to lift up to 25 lbs
