Description
American Traveler is hiring a Cath Lab / EP Technologist with 2+ years of experience for a cardiac catheterization lab offering exposure to both diagnostic/interventional cardiology and electrophysiology procedures.
Details
- Rotates between 2 cardiac cath labs and an EP lab
- Adult patient population with 1:1 patient ratio
- Handles 8-10 procedures per day, including 6-8 STEMI cases per month
- Performs diagnostic and interventional cardiology cases including device implants (pacemakers, ICDs), peripheral diagnostics/interventions, and EP ablations
- Physicians utilize both radial and groin access
- Day shift schedule, 4x10 hours, 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday-Friday with 1 rotating weekday off each week
- Must be able to accept an 84 hours per two-week schedule (one week 3x12, next week 4x12)
- Call requirement of 8-15 days per month plus 1 weekend every 3 weeks, with a 30-minute response time for STEMI alerts
- Call team consists of 2 RNs and 1 Rad Tech
- Float required within scope of practice
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Cath Lab/EP specialty required
- Current AHA BLS and AHA ACLS certifications required
- ARRT certification required
- Active Compact or State (KY) license required at time of submission, no exceptions; license required if applicable
- Candidates willing to apply for KY licensure upon offer will be considered but must apply the day they accept
- Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted (medical/religious exemptions reviewed case by case)
- Skilled in scrubbing diagnostic and interventional cardiology cases, table panning, and maintaining sterile field
- Experience assisting with devices such as Shockwave, Balloon Pump, Impella, EKOS, Penumbra, and ACIST injector
- Experience with vascular closure systems (Perclose, StarClose)
- Proficient in EKG lead placement, hemodynamic monitoring, and recognition of life-threatening arrhythmias
- Must be able to work with fluoroscopy equipment (Philips, Siemens) and PACS system
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include table panning, scrubbing diagnostic and interventional cardiology cases, and assisting with device implants such as pacemakers and ICDs (single, dual, Bi-V)
- Cross-training in EP ablations available for candidates without prior EP experience
- Scrubs and lead apron provided
- Orientation held bi-weekly
- Must live 75+ miles from the facility; local candidates will not be considered
- Up to 7 days of RTO considered, must be submitted upfront with no changes accepted; must work either a major or minor holiday
- Travelers must take a minimum 6-month break after completing one year in the system before becoming eligible to return
- First-time travelers may be considered
