Interventional Radiology/Cardiology Radiologic Technologist
Position Overview: The Interventional Radiology/Cardiology Radiologic Technologist plays a crucial role in supporting diagnostic and interventional procedures through proficient operation of fluoroscopic imaging equipment, adherence to sterile techniques, and coordination of procedural workflows. This position requires collaboration with physicians, nurses, and an interdisciplinary team to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care.
Essential Job Functions:- Demonstrate advanced technical competence in procedural imaging and radiation safety while adhering to departmental protocols.
- Operate fluoroscopic and radiographic imaging systems during diagnostic and interventional procedures including but not limited to vascular and cardiac catheterization.
- Ensure strict compliance with ALARA principles and all radiation safety policies.
- Perform image post-processing and ensure proper documentation and transmission to PACS.
- Function as the scrub technologist and prepare sterile instruments and materials for procedures.
- Act as the primary monitor technologist, documenting hemodynamic data and ensuring accurate communication with the procedural team.
- Assist with patient preparation and monitoring, verifying clinical factors crucial for patient safety.
- Support room efficiency and turn-over by managing supplies and equipment checks.
- Maintain compliance with all relevant regulatory standards and institutional policies, including timeout processes and allergy management.
- Education: Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program. A Bachelor’s degree in Radiologic Science/Medical Imaging is preferred.
- Licenses and Certifications:
- Current Oregon State licensure issued by the Oregon Board of Medical Imaging.
- ARRT certification in Radiography (RT(R)).
- Current BLS and ACLS certification required (or to be obtained within six months of hire).
- Specialty certifications (e.g., RCIS, NIH Stroke Scale) are preferred.
- Experience:
- Minimum of one year of experience in Interventional Radiology and/or Cath Lab managing fluoroscopy and scrubbing interventional cases.
- Preferred: At least three years of experience in the aforementioned areas.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse patient populations and demonstrate cultural competency.
- Bilingual (English-Spanish) skills are preferred.
This position reports to the Unit Manager and Surgical Services Director and plays an essential role in fostering a high standard of patient care and teamwork within the procedural area.
