Job Title: Analytical Chemistry Scientist 1

Location: 75 N. Fairway Dr, Vernon Hills Illinois 60061

 

Purpose of Position:

  • This position provides analytical chemistry support and/or remediation to all chemistry-related projects for products currently on the market as well as new product development. 
  • This position will also participate in the conduct of the stability testing program to support the approval of process and/or product design changes.
  • As needed, this position also supports the development and validation of analytical methodologies for incoming raw materials, in-process, and finished product release testing.

 

General Functions, Specific Responsibilities, and Authority:

  • Chemistry & performance testing, data review and entry, protocol/report generation, laboratory maintenance and support.

 

Knowledge, Education, and Skills Required:

Education:

  • BS/MS in Chemistry / Pharmaceutics with related science experience

 

Skills:

  • Demonstrates developed knowledge of respective scientific discipline and standard scientific method and techniques.
  • Excellent scientific writing skills.
  • Ability to multi-task various activities.
  • Troubleshoot issues that arise and solve problems.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

Experience:

  • 2-4 years’ experience in pharmaceutical analytical chemistry is essential.
  • Hands-on experience with wet-chemistry and instrumental techniques (i.e. pH, tritration, UV-Vis, GC, HPLC).
  • Experience in working within an FDA regulated environment and GMP documentation requirements.

 

Specialized Knowledge:

  • Ability to discuss scientific strategies/results and interact with other functional areas, including Regulatory, Manufacturing, and Quality.
  • Previous experience with writing scientific protocols and reports.

 

Must Have:

  • Basic knowledge of quality systems regulations, ISO Quality System and Medical Device standards.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to all levels within the organization and external to the organization.
  • Ability to work in teams, including large multifunctional teams, and independently obtain results as required with minimal supervision.
  • Proven ability to use initiative and drive to achieve results.
  • Excellent attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy and the ability to work independently and in team situations.
  • Ability to identify, analyze, develop, and present solutions for problems of moderate scope and complexity.
  • Ability to collect, analyze data and present results to others orally or in writing.
  • Must be able to comprehend and summarize data and document into reports.
  • Must be Self-motivated, organized and detail oriented.
  • Ability to handle multiple task assignments and effectively manage time and priorities to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to develop work plans and manage them to meet agreed upon goals.
  • Skilled in Microsoft software; excellent Excel data extraction and analysis skills; SAP proficiency strongly preferred; ability to learn and master other software programs
