Job Description
Insight Global is seeking a Data Center Technician for a top fiber infrastructure client. This individual will support both the physical and logical aspects of a rapidly expanding network environment across the Phoenix market. Responsibilities include maintaining GIS records, documenting fiber and data center infrastructure, supporting outage response efforts, troubleshooting network issues, and conducting field assessments. This role is ideal for a hands-on technician with a blend of data center, fiber, and networking experience who enjoys working across multiple disciplines. The team is looking for a strong communicator who can thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment and participate in an on-call rotation to support critical network outages when needed. This is a 6 month contract to perm position.
Must-Haves:
• 4+ years of data center, telecom, fiber, or network infrastructure experience
• Experience with both physical and logical network environments
• Fiber troubleshooting and outage response experience
• Experience working with a NOC (Network Operations Center)
• Experience with data center racking and stacking, and equipment mapping
• GIS, network mapping, or infrastructure documentation experience
• Understanding of switches, routers, and network connectivity
• Strong communication skills and ability to work independently
Day-to-Day:
• Conduct field visits to data centers, vaults, and network facilities
• Document fiber routes, rack layouts, and equipment locations
• Support outage investigations and identify fiber breaks
• Create diagrams, maps, and network documentation
• Partner with engineering, field operations, and remote support teams
• Participate in an on-call rotation for outage response, including occasional weekend coverage and overtime opportunities
• Utilize company-provided vehicle, tools, and mobile phone while in the field
• Support new network deployments and expansion projects
