About
We are seeking an experienced Trusts & Estates Paralegal to join our team. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of hands-on experience supporting estate planning, probate, trust administration, and related matters. This role works closely with attorneys to deliver high-quality client service in a collaborative, professional environment. This position will report out of our office in Pittsburgh on a hybrid schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist attorneys with the preparation and drafting of estate planning documents, including wills, revocable and irrevocable trusts, powers of attorney, health care directives, and related instruments.
- Support probate and trust administration matters, including gathering and valuing assets, preparing inventories, accountings, and petitions for filing with the appropriate courts.
- Prepare and assist with federal and state estate, gift, and fiduciary income tax returns and related filings.
- Coordinate with clients, financial institutions, appraisers, accountants, and other third parties to collect information and facilitate administration.
- Maintain organized client files, track deadlines, and manage calendars for court filings, tax deadlines, and client matters.
- Conduct legal research and prepare correspondence, status reports, and supporting documentation under attorney supervision.
- Assist with trust funding, asset transfers, and post-mortem planning as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the Trusts & Estates practice.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a paralegal in trusts and estates, estate planning, probate, or trust administration (law firm experience preferred).
- Strong knowledge of estate planning concepts, probate procedures, and trust administration processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with document management and timekeeping systems; experience with estate administration or tax software is a plus.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and a client-service orientation.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
