Job Description
ACE Recycling & Disposal is looking for a dependable and experienced Graveyard Shift Diesel Mechanic to join our maintenance team. This position is responsible for keeping our fleet safe, reliable, and ready for operation each morning.
Schedule
Graveyard Shift: Sunday night through Thursday morning (4–10 hour shifts)
Hours: 7:00 PM - 5:00 AM
Schedule will be adjusted based on shop needs.
Major Holidays off and paid • New Year's Day (January 1) • Memorial Day (last Monday in May) • Independence Day (July 4) • Labor Day (first Monday in September) • Thanksgiving (fourth Thursday in November) • Christmas (December 25)
Pay: TBD DOE plus $4.00 shift differential pay for working Graveyard Shift
Job Responsibilities
* Perform preventive maintenance and inspections on trucks and equipment.
* Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, air brake, and emissions-related issues.
* Complete repairs identified during driver post-trip inspections.
* Troubleshoot breakdowns and get trucks back into service safely and efficiently.
* Perform brake, suspension, steering, engine, and drivetrain repairs.
* Identify additional problems while completing scheduled repairs.
* Document repairs, parts used, and work performed accurately.
* Communicate unfinished repairs or major issues to the day-shift team and management.
* Maintain a clean and organized work area.
* Follow company safety procedures and shop policies.
* Help ensure trucks scheduled for the following day are ready for service.
Qualifications
* Diesel or heavy-duty truck repair experience preferred.
* Knowledge of diesel engines, electrical systems, air brakes, hydraulics, and aftertreatment systems.
* Ability to diagnose problems and work independently.
* Must provide dependable and consistent attendance.
* Must be able to safely use shop tools and diagnostic equipment.
* CDL is a plus but not required.
* Welding and fabrication experience is a plus.
* Experience working on refuse trucks or heavy vocational equipment is a plus.
