Director of Network Element Electrical Design

Aquinas Consulting is currently looking to fill a Director, Network Element Electrical Design Job in Newington, NH. This direct-hire job is available with one of our key customers in the telecommunications and subsea fiber optic cable industry. In this role, you will manage and lead a team of electrical engineers and technicians responsible for researching, designing, developing, prototyping, testing, qualifying, and transferring next-generation high-reliability products to manufacturing, including terminal equipment, undersea repeaters, branching units, and ROADMs. To be successful in this position, you must have extensive experience leading electrical design activities, managing engineering teams, and developing complex PCBA and circuit designs. Preference will be given to someone with experience in fiber optic components, undersea systems, electrical and optical testing, and product qualification.

Director, Network Element Electrical Design Job Responsibilities:

• Provide overall technical leadership for electrical design and prototyping activities from concept through customer delivery, while managing network element electrical circuit design activities in support of development projects.
• Manage the PCBA design process with internal and external eCAD specialists and lead cross-functional teams integrating optical, electronic, mechanical, and firmware technologies.
• Participate in requirements development and design reviews while ensuring manufacturing test requirements are developed for undersea network elements.
• Analyze production test data and participate in product test issue disposition, qualification, reliability activities, and the transition of products into manufacturing.
• Develop relationships with internal partners, external suppliers, and field installation teams to support product development, deployment, and proper operation of equipment.

Qualifications:

• Master's or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent professional experience.
• 10+ years of experience as a lead electrical design engineer and 5+ years of experience as a functional manager leading engineering teams in product development.
• Experience with circuit simulation and modeling using LTSpice or an equivalent tool, along with strong knowledge of PCBA design, design tools, and manufacturing.
• Knowledge of fiber optic components and undersea system technology, with experience in fiber optic/electronic testing, lab test automation, qualification, and reliability standards.
• Proven ability to lead highly skilled technical teams, manage projects and risks, communicate technical issues clearly, and work effectively across engineering, manufacturing, and supplier organizations.
