Job Title: Probabilistic Risk Assessment Engineer Location: Bellevue, WA Type: Long-term Contract
Responsibilities:
- Perform Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA) and severe accident analysis for the reactor design, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and internal safety protocols.
- Contribute to the development of PRA models, including fault trees, event trees, and radiological transport models.
- Coordinate PRA work with deterministic safety analysis and other engineering disciplines to support reactor design and licensing efforts.
- Provide technical guidance on reliability, risk metrics, importance measures, and regulatory compliance to engineering teams and management.
- Participate in PRA peer reviews, hazard analysis, and Phenomena Identification and Ranking Table (PIRT) exercises.
- Develop and maintain documentation of PRA models, analysis results, and technical reports for regulators and internal review.
- Deliver presentations on PRA methods and results to internal management, customers, and regulatory bodies.
- Utilize PRA software such as CAFTA, FRANX, and other tools to perform risk assessments and interpret results.
- B.S., or M.S. in nuclear, mechanical, electrical, or aerospace engineering (or similar).
- Five or more years of experience in Probabilistic Risk Assessment.
- Knowledge of PRA principles and familiarity with the ASME/ANS Non-Light Water PRA standard.
- Experience with PRA software such as CAFTA, FRANX, SAPHIRE, or similar tools.
- Experience with assessment codes like GOTHIC, MELCOR, RADTRAD is a plus.
- Strong technical writing and communication skills.
- Experience with sodium-cooled reactors or advanced reactor technologies preferred.
- Fluent in spoken and written English.
- Ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary team and adhere to safety standards.
