Medical Assistant (MA)
Location: Allegan, Michigan
Employment Type: Contract – W2
Duration: 15 Weeks
Shift: Day Shift
Hours: 8:30 AM–4:30 PM
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant (MA) to support front-office and back-office clinical operations in a fast-paced healthcare environment. The Medical Assistant will assist with patient intake, clinical procedures, provider support, documentation, scheduling, and daily clinic workflow.
The ideal candidate will have at least one year of Medical Assistant experience, recent phlebotomy and venipuncture experience, EMR proficiency, and strong patient-service skills.
Key Responsibilities Clinical Support- Greet, register, and room patients efficiently and professionally.
- Prepare examination rooms for patient visits.
- Obtain, measure, and accurately document patient vital signs.
- Perform phlebotomy and venipuncture procedures as required.
- Administer vaccines according to established clinical protocols.
- Perform EKG testing as needed.
- Conduct Point-of-Care (POC) testing according to established procedures.
- Assist providers, nurses, and clinical staff with patient care activities.
- Support routine clinical procedures and maintain patient comfort and safety.
- Maintain examination rooms and ensure required medical supplies are available.
- Schedule and coordinate patient appointments.
- Manage incoming telephone calls and route inquiries appropriately.
- Maintain accurate patient information and documentation in the EMR system.
- Support efficient patient flow and daily clinic operations.
- Assist with administrative tasks related to patient care and scheduling.
- Provide excellent customer service to patients and visitors.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with patients and healthcare staff.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and follow applicable healthcare policies.
- Work collaboratively with providers, nurses, Medical Assistants, and other center staff.
- Support health education and outreach initiatives focused on patient health and wellness.
- Minimum of 1 year of Medical Assistant experience, in addition to completion of an externship.
- Medical Assistant certification strongly preferred.
- Recent hands-on experience with phlebotomy and venipuncture required.
- Experience using an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system required.
- Experience supporting both front-office and back-office medical operations.
- Experience with patient scheduling and appointment coordination.
- Experience rooming patients and obtaining vital signs.
- Current BLS or CPR certification required.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and computer skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work effectively in a clinical environment.
- Ability to collaborate with providers, nurses, and multidisciplinary healthcare staff.
- Commitment to delivering high-quality patient care and service.
- Experience performing EKG testing.
- Experience with Point-of-Care (POC) testing.
- Experience with Athenahealth or comparable EMR platforms.
- Recent experience in outpatient, primary care, or ambulatory clinical settings.
- Interest in patient education, wellness initiatives, and community health outreach.
