As an Industrial Painter / Sandblaster, you'll prepare, blast, paint, inspect, and finish structural steel and fabricated products to customer specifications.
Daily responsibilities include:
- Prepare steel surfaces through solvent cleaning, hand tools, power tools, and abrasive blasting
- Apply industrial coatings using airless spray systems, conventional pressure pots, brushes, and rollers
- Apply zinc, epoxy, enamel, and specialty industrial coatings
- Read and interpret paint specifications, shop drawings, and manufacturer application instructions
- Perform wet film thickness testing and quality inspections
- Mix, reduce, and prepare coatings for application
- Operate and maintain blasting equipment, paint booths, ventilation systems, and compressed air equipment
- Inspect parts before and after painting to ensure quality standards are met
- Coordinate completed work with Quality Control and Production
- Move materials using forklifts, overhead cranes, or other material handling equipment
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Follow OSHA requirements and company safety procedures at all times
- Experience with industrial painting, blasting, or steel fabrication
- Experience using airless spray equipment or conventional pressure pot systems
- Ability to read work instructions and paint specifications
- Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, including hot and cold conditions
- Willingness to work overtime when needed
- 1–2 years of industrial painting experience
- Experience with structural steel
- SSPC or NACE knowledge
- Forklift or overhead crane experience
- Technical certifications
- High school diploma or GED
This position requires standing, walking, climbing, bending, lifting, reaching, and frequent use of hands throughout the workday.
Employees must:
- Lift up to 50 pounds
- Wear required PPE, including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, respirators (when required), and steel-toe boots
- Work safely around industrial equipment and moving machinery
