Job Description

Job Title: Senior People & Culture Partner

Location: Illinois (Field-Based – regular travel required across Chicagoland and surrounding states)

  • Annual Salary: $95,000 – $115,000 (commensurate with experience).
  • Bonus Potential: 10% annual bonus potential
  • Vehicle Allowance: $5k Annual car allowance (or) mileage provided.
  • Comprehensive Benefits: Includes healthcare, dental, vision, 401k options, paid time off, and additional company-specific wellness perks.

Travel Requirements & Locations:

  • Initial Geographic Scope: The role covers Chicago/Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Indiana. Regular travel to out-of-state locations is required on a cadence (e.g., visiting Indianapolis every 6–8 weeks).
  • Future Regional Split: The territory is expected to cleanly split long-term, narrowing the focus to Chicago/Illinois, Iowa, and Wisconsin (while cleaving off Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio).
  • Local Footprint: Within Illinois, frequent travel is required to all gym clubs across the greater Chicagoland area—stretching from northern hubs like Crystal Lake and Northbrook down through western and southwestern locations like Wheaton, Villa Park, Romeoville, and Joliet, out to southern spots like Matteson.

Overview: We are seeking a high-impact, transparent, and strong strategic HR leader to drive organizational performance through people. In an environment that requires a shift toward high-feedback and high-development, this role is designed for a confident leader. You will partner closely with field operations, handle strong personalities with ease, and coach leaders through difficult conversations to build a culture of true accountability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct Feedback & Cultural Pivot: Drive a high-feedback, high-development culture by providing transparent, direct coaching to leaders.
  • Performance Management & Accountability: Elevate organizational performance by overhauling and executing rigorous performance frameworks, ensuring leaders hold teams accountable.
  • Strategic Business Partnership: Serve as a senior advisor to field operations leadership, seamlessly blending HR strategy with deep operational execution.
  • Proactive Problem Solving: Use workforce analytics, turnover trends, and operational data to identify systemic challenges before they escalate, designing scalable solutions to improve retention.
  • Complex Employee Relations: Provide expert counsel on complex employee relations, navigating strong personalities and difficult situations with fairness, consistency, and confidence.
  • Talent Strategy & Development: Lead talent reviews, succession planning, and leadership pipeline development to close capability gaps across multi-unit operations.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 10 years of progressive HR leadership and development experience.
  • Operational Background: A strong blend of HR and multi-unit operational experience (similar to a strong operator profile) is highly preferred. L&D backgrounds will be considered only if combined with robust operational experience and performance management expertise.
  • Core Competencies: Proven track record in multi-unit environments, performance management, turnover reduction, and leadership development.
  • Communication & Style: Exceptional influence, coaching, and communication skills. Must be transparent, completely comfortable with direct feedback, and capable of seeing both positive and negative aspects to guide leaders through tough situations.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Management, or a related field preferred.

Work Environment & Requirements

  • Field-Based Role: This is strictly an on-site, field-based position—not a remote role. You will be expected to be out visiting facilities and supporting operations during the week.
  • Travel Intensity: Extensive multi-state and regional travel is required to support the broader territory footprint.
  • Stamina: Must thrive in a fast-paced environment and possess the physical stamina required for a non-sedentary role involving regular movement across various gym facilities.
